How to Lay a Foundation for Strong Leadership

strong leadership

We believe that strong leadership all comes down to one thing: strong character.

Strong character is the foundation on which we’re able to build solid relationships, solid commitment, and solid legacies.

So today, let’s talk through what it means to have strong character.

  1. Selflessness: First and foremost, strong character requires a high level of selflessness. This means thinking of others above and beyond yourself. Once you learn how to put others’ needs above your own, you’ll be well on your way!
  2. Humility: Next, strong character means displaying a sense of humility. By avoiding self-praise and selfishness, you’ll have more room to lead others well.
  3. Patience: And finally, strong character calls for patience. It’s all too easy to become frustrated when things become uncontrollable. But people of strong character must act with patience and peace despite outside circumstances.

Taking Advantage of Today

taking advantage of today

If today were your last day, what would you do differently?

Would you kiss your spouse good morning? Tell your kids you love them? Write a note of appreciation to your boss? Pay for the person in line behind you? Say a prayer on your way home from work?

Whatever it may be, we ALL have things we’d do differently if today were our last day!

So why don’t we act that way now? Maybe it’d be inconvenient. Maybe it’d be too time-consuming. Maybe it’d be uncomfortable.

But the truth is that NO ONE is promised tomorrow. So today, we want to encourage you to live life to the fullest and take advantage of the opportunities you have to serve others, love others, and care for others!

And be sure to leave a comment telling us what you would do differently if today were your last day.

How to Conquer the Top 3 Distractions

Let’s face it: we are much too easily distracted.

Distraction #1: Work

Many of us tend to make an idol out of our careers. We let our jobs become our identities. But once we realize that our satisfaction and affirmation will never come from business, we are able to put our work in its right place.

Distraction #2: Schedules

Next, there’s no question that many of us allow our schedules to distract us from enjoying life. We become so caught up in sticking to pre-determined plans that we often don’t leave room for spontaneity. But if we want to truly enjoy life, we must be open to twists and turns!

Distraction #3: Perfection

And finally, our goal of perfection has the power to distract us from living life to the fullest. We are unable to stop chasing perfection and are unable to see beauty in imperfection. But the truth is that nothing we do, nothing we say, and no one we meet will ever be perfect. So don’t miss out on enjoying life’s imperfections!

How to Build a Strong Marriage

The most common piece of advice our society offers is simply this: “Follow your heart.

Why? Because we live in a culture that praises feelings. We believe that our feelings should dictate our actions.

But the truth is, our feelings are constantly changing. We experience a jumble of anger and sorrow and confusion and jealousy and joy and peace and love and frustration…the list goes on and on.

This is especially true in marriage. There will be plenty of situations where you and your spouse disagree. And you will feel angry. Hurt. Alone. So should you give up? Of course not!

Instead, marriage requires us to build a solid foundation of trust and love. That way, we can hold fast to our foundation in times of trouble. Even when feelings of pain and frustration creep into our marriages, it’s crucial that we cling to our foundation rather than our feelings.

What are some other reasons why building a solid foundation is vital to a strong marriage? Share your thoughts below in a comment!

So how do we bridge the gap?

It all begins with prayer. It all begins with confessing that you can’t live a good life without the Lord. It all begins with asking God to give you strength to act in a way that honors Him.

What are you waiting for? Ask God to help you bridge the gap today! And be sure to comment below with how God is working in your life.
