Mentor leaders are different than other leaders. Why? Because they walk alongside the people they lead…every step of the way.
So check out how to best walk alongside the people you lead:
- Encourage them. Always be ready and willing to encourage the people you lead. That means offering kind words as often as you can–complimenting their character, their actions, and their successes.
- Support them. Next, it’s of the utmost important to support the people you lead. Support their choices and decisions, knowing that they have learned from your leadership. Your support will mean more to them than anything else.
- Challenge them. And finally, never stop challenging the people you lead. Constantly challenge them to go the extra mile or pursue what they think is impossible. Because that is when the best work and the biggest dreams are accomplished.

Maintaining humility is crucial. When opportunities and situations arise, we must remain humble from the beginning to the end. Not sure how? Well, let’s consider this simple acronym for what it means to have humility with the word “H.U.M.B.L.E.”
Have an “others first” attitude.
Understand that we are ALL uniquely gifted.
Modestly accept recognition.
Be respectful of your peer’s feelings.
Let go of pride.
Expect no praise, but be gracious when rewarded.

It’s all too easy to miss the special moments in life. Why? Because we busy ourselves with worries over the future. We’re so caught up in controlling and planning the future, that we miss out on the moments that are right in front of us.
So today, let’s discuss 3 ways to enjoy the journey of life:
- Remember to Laugh. An easy way to enjoy life is to laugh loudly and laugh often. This gives us a chance to appreciate the joy of living a full life.
- Remember to Be Thankful. One of the most important parts of enjoying life is being thankful. Maybe this means listing out what you’re grateful for or maybe this means saying a prayer of thanks. However you choose to do it, find a way to be thankful every day.
- Remember to Enjoy Your Family. And finally, enjoying life means enjoying life’s most precious gift: your family. So stop rushing through your days and take time to love your kids well before they grow up.

Here at the Dungy Family Foundation, we believe church has the power to encourage, engage, and strengthen your marriage. How? Check out the 3 ways attending church together can empower your relationship with your spouse:
- Church sets God at the center of your marriage. First and foremost, the best part of attending church with your spouse is how God becomes the foundation of your relationship. With weekly encouragement to continually pursue Christ, you and your spouse are better equipped to lean on the Lord no matter how difficult life becomes.
- Church ensures you and your spouse are on the same page. Next, church is a great way to align your priorities, decisions, and convictions with your spouse. By establishing similar mindsets, arguments and uncertainties will be more easily navigated.
- Church creates community for your family. And finally, church is an incredible source of community. Not only will small groups provide accountability and guidance for your marriage, but it will also give your kids the opportunity to grow in their faith. Then together, you and your spouse can better train up your children with strong morals and a love of the Lord.

Your role as a parent is far more impactful than you will ever realize. Every day, you have the power to inspire, challenge, and most importantly, ENCOURAGE your kids.
So let’s consider the top 3 ways to encourage your kids:
- Encourage Your Kids with Your Words: Words of encouragement are the surest way to love your kids well. So look for big and small ways to encourage your kids with your words. Maybe it’s complimenting their character or their accomplishments or their attitude. Whatever it is, be sure to verbally recognize them.
- Encourage Your Kids in Their Weakness: Next, be sure to encourage your kids with good timing. The best time to encourage them? When they’re feeling down or weak. This might mean encouraging them after losing a game, receiving a bad grade, or not getting the part in the school play. But remember: being aware and involved in your child’s daily life is the best way to ensure timely encouragement.
- Encourage Your Kids with Consistency: Last but not least, the most important part of encouraging your child is being consistent. Daily reminders that they are loved and valued will give your children the confidence they need to succeed in life.
