Giving God Control

We all want to control things. It’s human nature.

We want to control how we spend our days, how much money we earn, how our kids will turn out, how our marriage will be, and even how healthy we will stay.

But why do we seek so much control when we could surrender that control to God?

In Romans 8:28 we’re told, “God works all things together for the good of those who love Him, who are called according to His purpose.”

That means that when we give God control of our lives, He will be faithful to work all things together for our good.

And here’s a little secret: God is already in control. Whether we choose to surrender to Him or not, He still holds the universe in His hands.

So stop clinging so tightly to the things of this world, and recognize that God is in control and that God is good.

Created for Greatness

You weren’t created to shuffle through life. You weren’t created to drift through your days. You weren’t created to have a mundane routine day in and day out.

So what were you created for?

You were created for greatness.

Psalm 139:13-14 says, “For You formed my inward parts; You wove me in my mother’s womb. I will give thanks to You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made.”

This is good news! It means that God has planned greatness for you from the very beginning. He wants you to live a life that glorifies Him…a life that is exciting, and meaningful, and leaves a legacy.

So take some time today to think through all the ways you can stop drifting and start living!

Making the Most of Family Time

Daily Huddle Cherish

Evenings at home aren’t what they used to be.

Board games and family meals and backyard sports have been replaced with scrolling through social media, hours of Netflix, and nonstop texting.

You may be home each night with your family, but are you really all there?

James 4:14 says, “You do not know what your life will be like tomorrow. You are just a vapor that appears for a little while and then vanishes away.”

No one is promised tomorrow. That’s why we need to make every moment count with our families. Put down your phone. Turn off the TV. And look your kids in the eyes and tell them you love them. Laugh with them. Hold them. And cherish every single moment you have together.

Every Husband’s Duty

When it comes to marriage, there are so many things to enjoy: taking new adventures together, buying your first home together, and just living daily life together!

But there are also some tough things that come with being married–things that require effort and focus. So today, we’re talking through some of the duties of every husband.

  1. Pay attention to your wife’s heart. As a husband, you’re called to listen to your wife and her heart. You must continue to learn about her each and every day. Get to know her quirks and her love language. Continue to discover how you can best love her in new situations.
  2. Meet your wife’s needs. Husbands are also called to meet their wives’ needs. We all immediately think of physical needs–providing food and money and a home for her. But it’s also important to meet your wife’s spiritual and emotional needs. This means caring for her, showing compassion, and encouraging her in her relationship with the Lord.

What are some other duties a husband must keep in mind? We’d love to hear your suggestions in a comment below!
