The Problem with Complaining

It’s all too easy to complain. We have so many outlets where we can rant about our problems…places like Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. In fact, if you scroll through your Facebook feed right now, you’ll probably notice that the majority of posts are complaints.

So today, we’re going to compare what happens when you complain vs. what happens when you show gratitude.

When you complain…

  1. When you complain, you only focus on what’s going wrong in life.
  2. When you complain, you allow your problems to control your feelings.
  3. When you complain, you’re unable to see the silver lining.

When you show gratitude…

  1. When you show gratitude, your heart and mind are free to focus on what’s going right in life.
  2. When you show gratitude, you’re able to let go of what you can’t control.
  3. When you show gratitude, your eyes are opened to see the silver lining.

So this week, we want to encourage you to be thankful and dwell on 1 Thessalonians 5:18 which says, “Give thanks in all circumstances…”

What are some other things that happen when you complain or show gratitude? Share your thoughts in a comment below.
