Meaning of Commitment in Marriage

We’ve all heard that marriage is a “50/50” commitment. We’ve all heard that spouses need to each do their part. We’ve all heard that marriage is about what you can get and how you can be made happy.

But we want to let you in on a little secret: none of that is true.

Instead, marriage is a “100/100” commitment. It requires us to give all of ourselves to our spouse each and every day. We’re called to give our love, our time, and our energy to serve our spouse well. Why? Because that’s what God does for us.

God doesn’t call you into a “50/50” relationship with Him. He gives you all of Himself. In the same way, He wants you to experience the gift of giving someone your all and doing what’s best for them.
